How to close tabs without losing the links

A simple way to clear your browser while keeping the pages you may need later.

First, decide what you need to keep

A tab is often a reminder, not a task you are doing right now. Before closing it, decide whether you need the link, the open page, or unfinished work on that page.

Bookmarks keep links you choose. Tab Groups keep a set of tabs together in the browser. Recently Closed helps with a tab you just closed. Munch is for links you want to put away and search later, without keeping every page open.

Save and close with Munch

  1. Connect Safari, Chrome, or Brave when Munch asks for browser access.
  2. Open Munch from the menu bar. Review your open tabs or the Ready to munch suggestions.
  3. Choose a tab and select Tuck away. Munch saves its link and title before it closes the browser tab.
  4. Later, search the Closed or All saved list by title or link. Select a result to reopen it in the browser it came from.

Want the link but need the tab open? Choose Save link only instead of Tuck away.

Know what comes back

Munch keeps the link and title. It does not save the page itself, a form you were filling in, your scroll position, or a restorable browser session. A reopened link loads the website again.

Finish forms and other unsaved work before closing a tab. If you need a set of live tabs for an ongoing project, a browser Tab Group may fit better.

Start with a few tabs

Leave automatic closing off while you learn the flow. Tuck away a few low-risk tabs, then search for one and reopen it. Once you trust the routine, use Munch's tab budget and review suggestions to clear larger groups.
